Working out like a hamster on a wheel but not getting anywhere? You could be making these 5 common mistakes at the gym.
1. You binge on junk food straight after
We know how tempting it is to go crazy on the carbs after a tough workout but try to refrain if you are looking to lose weight. Replenish your energy with a serve of protein and green vegies and steer clear of the potato crisps.
2. You go too hard
First time at the gym? Take it slow and make sure your technique is right before upping your weight class or going 100 miles an hour on the treadmill. Injuring yourself is the biggest roadblock in your fitness journey.
3. You go too soft
There is being cautious and then there is just plain laziness. Rocking up to the gym doesn’t automatically entitle you to a loss of 500 calories – you gotta work for it!
4. You’re wearing the wrong shoes
Those Stan Smiths may be classified as sneakers but they are definitely not going to cut it at the gym. Get your feet properly fitted in a supportive pair of sneakers that are designed for the activity you will be doing.
5. You don’t get enough sleep
Feeling sore? You might not be getting enough sleep. Your body needs to heal and to get the most from it at the gym, it needs to be fresh and ready to go. Turn off the Netflix and get your full eight hours.
