Turns out those seemingly effortless swimsuit shoots you see in the magazines actually involve a hell of a lot of freezing temperatures, sunburn, and highly considered posing. It isn’t all sunshine and bikinis on set, and three top supermodels reveal their tips to looking great in a two-piece both on and off camera. Take notes ladies.
Jessica Hart
The former Victoria’s Secret angel and Aussie beach babe is a seasoned pro at posing with very little clothing on. She says that her top tip to taking a great bikini photo is standing on your tiptoes! “It elongates my legs and uses the leg muscles which always looks better.” She also suggests tilting your head up so your chin is slightly elevated, this keeps you from having shadows under your eyes from the glare.

Tash Oakley
The cofounder of crazy successful swimwear blog A Bikini A Day, Tash Oakley, spends most of her working life in a two-piece. So you best believe that the girl knows a thing or two about posing. She says that the most important thing about posing in a swimsuit is knowing your angles. “Changing your body angles isn’t about changing how you look, it’s about accentuating your best features.” She suggests being aware of your arms and making sure they aren’t ever pushed against your side.

Erin Heatherton
She was the face of the VS swim range and has posed in Sports Illustrated, but Erin insists that the way your body looks in a photo is all about your stance. She suggests keeping your arms natural and loose by your side whilst posing. “Stick out one hip, put your weight in the balls of your feet, and lower your chin a touch and you’re good to go.”
