There is no better chance to show a little creativity than at the music industries night of nights. The Grammy Awards have proven to bring out the best and worst fashion choices and 2016 was no different. Check out our picks of the fashion winners and losers of the night below.
BEST: Bella Hadid
This Alexandre Vauthier creation fits Bella so perfectly that we can forgive her for breaking the cardinal sin and flashing chest, waist and leg all at the same time. The sleek middle part, broody nude makeup and classic accessories are the perfect compliments to this show-stopping look.
BEST: Demi Lovato
It isn’t perfect but it’s damn close! We love that Demi has taken a risk with this look and playing with masculine accents. The all-black look is perfect for her complexion and newly raven colored hair. Would be a total slam dunk had she traded in the dated platform pumps for an edgier option.
BEST: Ellie Goulding
We love everything about this understated look on Ellie. She usually opts for edgier dresses with structure but this pastel pink slip style is perfect on her. She keeps it modern and fresh with her undone hair and choker style diamond necklace.
BEST: Alessandra Ambrosio
Everything about this look screams sexy from the cut out gown to the choker necktie and the deep blue smoky eye. On anyone else, it would be too much, but the Victoria’s Secret veteran can carry it off with absolute ease. Brownie points for her choppy new bob.
BEST: Florence Welch
The Florence and the Machine singer looked her usual ethereal self on the red carpet in a custom pink Gucci gown. On anyone else, this would be a total disaster, but on Florence it is a masterpiece. The cut flatters her willowy figure and the embellishments play up to her quirky aesthetic. Extra points for proving red heads can wear baby pink.
Her body is insane and she has cheekbones like cut glass but this dress is all kinds of wrong. The super high split exposes way too much hip and actually takes away from her beautiful long legs. This combined with the skimpy bodice pushes the look into tacky territory.
WORST: Taylor Swift
This may be controversial but is anyone else yawning at Taylor’s Atelier Versace two-piece? Other than the fact it is basically an orange and pink version of the dress she wore last year, the styling is so wrong. The matching pink underwear peeping out from the waist high split, the rainbow choker and soccer Mom bob all scream confusion.
WORST: Carrie Underwood
Don’t get us wrong – Carrie looks stunning in this glam satin gown and OTT diamonds – but it just isn’t right for the Grammys. The look is too safe and traditional for an event that pushes the boundaries, and the perfectly coiffured bob screams Texas housewife not rock star.
WORST: Vanessa Lachey
Where do we even start?! The turtleneck is her first mistake but the netted, sheer bottom half is her worst. Her beautiful curvy body is made to appear totally unbalanced by the solid black top half which fades to sheer from the waist. Not even her killer pumps and hot pink lip could save this look from the worst dressed list.
WORST: Selena Gomez
She has been progressing in leaps and bounds with her fashion choices this year but we are super disappointed with this little blue number. We know this dress probably costs more than our yearly salary but it looks cheap. The bright sequins and cut outs look more Forever 21 than custom Calvin Klein, especially when paired with the oversized hoop earrings. Gorgeous girl, bad outfit.
