The Oscars are fast approaching! To celebrate, we have taken a trip down memory lane to look back on the worst 6 trends ever to walk the Oscars red carpet...
1. Frothy Princess Gowns
Think pink glitter and a whole lot of taffeta. The early 2000s were peppered with princess style gowns that were more suited to fairytale than real life.
2. Leather Dresses
There is absolutely no place for leather on the red carpet! Unfortunately no one told Heather Graham circa 1998. Keep it in the realms of leather jackets and handbags.
3. Strange Suiting
The pantsuit had a moment at the Oscars and unfortunately for everyone involved, the evidence was captured on camera.
4. Cut Outs
The cut out trend caused enough wardrobe malfunctions to last a lifetime and was extremely popular amongst the young Hollywood girl gang lead by Paris Hilton.
5. Leopard Print
Don’t get us wrong – we love a little leopard – but it just doesn’t work for the Oscars! Head to toe animal print should be left to costume parties, not black tie events.
6. Structured Silhouettes
The trend towards over structured flounces and bodices is unflattering at best and an eyesore at worst. Giant bows and over padded shoulders don’t work for anyone – not even you, J.Lo.
There have been some absolutely shocking choices for the biggest awards show on earth, and we are bound to see some more this year - keep an eye out for our best and worst round up.
