If Kendall Jenner is wearing them, then they are officially a trend. Leather leggings have come a long way since their days of barely covering Mick Jagger and are now considered a staple in every woman’s winter wardrobe. They have the classic appeal of a black skinny jean with the added luxury of lambskin, but have the potential to go horribly wrong if worn incorrectly.
Read on for our 3 must have tips on how to wear the trend...
1. Size is everything!
Too small and you risk a rip but too large and you look like your sporting a whole lot of saggy skin. Leather grows about half a size with wear so be mindful when you are shopping to allow for a little give. Whilst they may feel like jeans, the fabric is much more delicate than denim which means choosing the wrong size could result in a trip down the main street with a split in your back seam. That’s a statement you probably don’t want to make!
2. QUALITY OVER QUANTITY
Step away from the pleather for this one ladies because it just isn’t going to cut it. Leather replica fabrics don’t have the natural give or luxurious soft sheen of the real thing and can cheapen the whole look. Invest in high quality pairs from reputable leather brands and wear them for years to come.
3. Don’t double up
Unless you fancy looking like a member of Hell’s Angels avoid doubling up on leather in the rest of your outfit. It may work with denim but leather pants and a leather biker are too harsh when worn together. Go for tees in soft cashmeres and linens for a contrast in texture that keeps the look interesting and fresh.
