Our twenties are a time where we experiment and mature. As you edge closer to the big three -oh : kids, careers and lifelong friends develop. Your wardrobe is a place that change is good and some things need to be let go (you can do it!).
Read on to find the 30 things lurking in your closet that you need to stop wearing NOW.
1. Low rise skinnies
Yes, you still have a banging bod, but its time to send the low rise jeans back to where they came from – 1999.
2. Tube tops
They may have been a favorite in your college days but as we mature they become a less and less viable option.
3. Bodycon dresses
The only woman alive who has successfully worn a bodycon dress past the age of thirty is Liz Hurley and I know you aren’t going to try compete with that body.
4. Fast fashion
Step away from the Zara ladies. You deserve well-cut, well-made pieces in beautiful fabrics. Invest in fewer pieces but ones that you really love.
We bet that even the queen of headbands, Blair Waldorf, has retired this look.
6. Tutu skirts
These are totally unacceptable at any age past five and I blame Carrie Bradshaw for their sudden resurgence into the closets of grown women. Save them for your daughters’ ladies.
7. Ripped clothing
We can appreciate your punk rock past but let me assure you, you can still look young and carefree without holes in your knees. It just looks like your kids attacked you.
8. Ill-fitting lingerie
If you haven’t had yourself sized yet then you are missing out on the joy of a great bra. It’s free so no excuse not to get yourself to the mall.
9. Pleather handbags
If you only take one piece of advice away from this, it is ditch the pleather handbags and embrace the buttery soft sensation of real leather. Invest in quality over quantity…repeat after me…quality!
10. Fake designer duds
Let’s be serious, fake designer fashion isn’t a good look at any age but it gets sadder the older you get. You should be focusing on quality and style - not brand.
11. Jelly sandals
These abominations are bad enough on teenagers but we can forgive them because they are too young to know better. Use your brain and lose the jellies.
12. Glitter anything
Products that are included in this decree: glitter eye shadow, glitter emblazoned tees and definitely any form of shimmery body polish. You are sparkly enough without it.
13. Bridesmaid dresses
It was perfect for the day but we can guarantee you, you aren’t ever wearing that lilac taffeta strapless ever again.
Turning thirty doesn’t have to be scary. It is just like your twenties but you are smarter, stronger and much better equipped to tackle it. Embody the beautiful, classy woman you have become and ditch these fashion fails for your best decade yet.
