The 90’s revival permeating the fashion world has brought back one of my favorite pieces: the button-front mini skirt. While I believe not all trends are worth trying, this skirt will instantly bring a fresh element into your wardrobe.
I was out shopping in some large malls with my boyfriend in Los Angeles recently, and I couldn’t help but notice how many mannequins were wearing a skirt I once wore as a child. Now, just because something is trendy doesn’t mean I’ll necessarily like it. There have been plenty of trendy items that didn’t suit my taste (anyone remember harem pants?!), but the button front mini is basically flattering on everyone.
Here are three ways you can pull together a look starring this on trend piece.
A sleeved blouse with a fun print looks great over a solid colored skirt. Add some quirky brogues and a saddle bag and you have a really cool modern bohemian look that can translate across a number of occasions. For the woman with a slightly vintage inclination this outfit may be just the ticket.
Grab yourself a plain black singlet and wear tucked in under an oversized khaki anorak for a perfect military themed outfit. To top off the look, lace up some high rise boots and accessorise with a backpack and undone hair and makeup. This outfit is super comfortable and can easily be altered to fit both warmer and cooler climates.
This outfit features sleek, classic pieces you probably already have in your wardrobe. A Bretton stripe tee and denim jacket bring the 90's vibes. Modernize it by adding a slash of red lippie and an it bag.
Is the midi skirt not a good fit for you? Have skater skirts have left you bored? Looking for another excuse to go shopping and add a cute addition to your closet? The button-front skirt is distinctive, casual but sassy, and fun to mix and match with other pieces. How will you wear the button-front skirt this season?
