To say that Miley Cyrus has a daring style would be an understatement. From dollar bill miniskirts to couture red-carpet gowns, someone is always talking about what she’s wearing.
Last night, she shocked the red carpet in a daring silver warrior-princess getup, and that inspired us to look back over the past few years and reflect on her best ever—and worst ever—looks.

Let’s start on a good note with this amazing dress Miley wore to the amfAR gala in June. The bold pattern plus her cheeky accessories—heart-printed Docs and red opera gloves—might look overwrought on anyone but Miley, but she totally rocks it.
Okay, admittedly, hybrid jeans-sweatpants were in for a minute. And if anyone could pull them off, it would be Miley. However, adding a baggy vinyl jacket and top is just a little too much. She would be better off wearing just a crop top (her signature!) in a luxe fabric.

Here’s denim done right: Miley mixes her 90s style with high fashion by pairing a printed jean jacket, cutoffs, and a white crop top with amazing thigh-high boots and sleek hair. Grown-up styling makes grungy clothes look haute—and hot.
A word of advice: nothing you wear should require you to censor your nipples. Miley seems to be simply screaming for attention in this mesh laundry bag and fur bolero stolen from a circus horseback rider. Even while showing off her entire body, this outfit doesn’t flatter her at all.

Fortunately, Miley redeems herself in the white-and-holey realm in this amazing harlequin-inspired jumpsuit. Even though it covers her up, the pattern and shape are super flattering on her. It’s on-trend yet unique, perfectly suiting her bold style.
You knew this one was coming—the infamous nude ensemble from the VMAs two years ago. We know you have a great body, Miley—you don’t have to prove it by wearing as little as possible in the most unflattering fabric of all time. We’re so glad the hair knots are over, too.

Her all-time most elegant look: this Marc Jacobs dress. The simple column shape, subtle but sparkly emerald color, and minimal accessories make this look so chic and lovely. Miley strikes the balance between mature and fun, and nails this look.
Finally, there’s her latest Grammys look. Wearing more bronzer than actual clothing, Miley arrived in a 300-inspired outfit consisting of silver suspenders, a crystal-and-chain loincloth, and thigh-high boots. She finished the look with turquoise eye shadow, a unicorn clutch, and her new dreadlocks (which seem to have tinfoil in them). This outfit is undeniably dreadful, but we can’t help but admire her gall, and it can’t be denied that her body is rockin’. One thing is for sure—we were expecting a bold look, and she didn’t disappoint.
