Strong, bold brows have been a serious beauty trend over the last few years and there are a few tricks of the trade you can use to ensure yours are always looking their best.
They may seem like a relatively insignificant part of your face but they can really make or break your whole look. Great brows frame your eyes and add polish to any makeup look.
Read on for our 6 insider tips on how to perfect your brows and get your own pair of perfectly arched angels.
1. Put down the tweezers
Have a goal for your desired eyebrow outcome and stick to it! Regardless of whether your aim is to grow in sparse patches, or simply keep crazy thick brows from getting too out of control, grab your pencil and outline your ideal shape. Make sure you stick to only plucking outside of that line, because you often lose sight of your shape trying to even up both sides of your brows.
2. Get brushing
Always brush or comb your brows before plucking or applying any products. Brushing them upward and then out is the best technique for a great natural shape. If you prefer a more unruly look, brush upward and set with brow gel or plumper.
3. Layer your products
Most people think that they only need one product for their brows, but this could not be further from the truth! The best method is to layer pencil, gel and powder over each other. This provides a layered, multidimensional looking brow that is both natural and polished. Using only one of the three products can make your brows look ‘drawn on’ and overdone.
4. Use a growth serum
Hair growth serums have come a long way and using one religiously can really make a difference to your brows. If there are patches that need extra thickness or you are guilty of over plucking, apply one before you go to bed and be gentle when you take off your product at the end of the day (as this can cause hair breakage).
5. Ditch the magnifying mirror
Mirrors that magnify your face may seem like a good idea in theory, but do not work in practice. Always step at least a foot away from your bathroom mirror to do your brows, as this will ensure you are not overdoing them without considering how they fit on the rest of your face.
6. Go light to dark
For the most natural looking brows, always ensure that the darkest area is in the arch, and that the start and end of each brow is lighter and has less product. This is because brows that are overly filled in and darkened in those areas look drawn on and unnatural. A darker arch gives a youthful lift to the brow and gives a much better overall look.
