Want to know how to replicate the killer selfies you see on your socials every day? The tricks of the Instagram trade are easier to master than you may think. Getting a great photo is all about flattering lighting, a good angle and – of course – on point makeup.
3 Tips to flattering lighting, a good angle and – of course – on point makeup...
1. Choose a feature to make a statement!
The beauty rules in real life still apply in front of the lens. Provide the camera with a focal point by only playing up one of your features. Got great eyes? Opt for a slick of black liner and falsies. Prefer the classic pout? Over line your lips and paint on your favorite red lipstick, keeping your eye makeup natural. Playing to your strengths is a great motto in life and in the game of selfies.

2. Angle is everything!
Anyone who has experienced the horror of opening the front camera when you’re not expecting it knows that not all angles are good for your face. Anything lower than eye level and tilted up will draw attention to your chin and makes your eyes appear smaller, as well as providing a not so attractive view directly up your nose. Holding the camera above eye level and tilted down provides the most universally flattering angle.

3. Choose your lighting with caution!
Not all lighting looks good on camera. Too bright and it washes out your skin, too dark and you don’t see anything at all. People often make the mistake of taking photos under fluorescent lighting, which is much too harsh on your face and often highlights flaws you weren’t aware even existed. Early morning and dusk are the golden hours for photographers so set your alarms ladies.
