Those of us who grew up in the 90s should remember the time when mood rings and color changing T-shirts were all the rage. Well shade shifting has come back in fashion in a big way, with beauty brands everywhere releasing lipsticks that change color as they are applied.
But why the attraction? This color morphing makeup actually interacts with your own personal pH level and creates a custom color just for you and your individual skin tone.
A lot of the shade changing lipsticks on the market are designed to provide the most flattering nude color on each individual person. The perfect nude lip color can be impossible to find on your own so this new technology is an absolute game changer.
Variations of the lipstick are currently being sold by brands like Dior, Smashbox and Nyx and reportedly contain a magical dye called Red 27, which is the secret ingredient that makes the lippie change shade.
A lot of the lipsticks come in a green tube – but don’t freak out – they go on clear. They then gradually build and deepen in color in the minutes after your initial application. Beauty blogger, Leandra Medine, tried the “magical” lipstick for herself and we think the results speak for themselves
